Why Myofascial Release ?

Why Myofascial Release ?

Myofascial Release is a gentle form of manual therapy that is highly effective in addressing dysfunction in the body's fascial system.  It utilizes sustained pressure to release those restricted areas of the fascia.    The time component is critical in order to achieve longer lasting results.  After a series of releases occur the tissue softens and is more pliable taking the pressure off those pain senstitive structures and eliminating the symptoms.  As the web of restricted fascia releases the body can return to a more normal state of balance and alignment.

Why Treat the Fascia?

Fascia is a three dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds and interconnects with every muscle, fibre, blood vessel and nerve in the body.

The body’s fascial system is the largest sensory organ in the body.  It is a complex system of connective tissue that dynamically connects protects and provides structure to all the systems of the body.  Dysfunction in the fascial system can be responsible for numerous types of pain, limited mobility, chronic conditions and potentially impact disease states.  Injury, prolonged pain, trauma and disease cause strain on the body’s deep fascial structures.  These strains create restrictions around vital structures such as nerves, blood vessels, even organs causing common symptoms.
